During the Covid outbreak, Eurofins performed 35,000 tests daily to analyse the virus quickly and accurately. During this hectic period, regulations changed continuously. For example, all test results initially had to be stored for a week. Shortly afterwards, this retention obligation only applied to negative results, while positive samples had to remain available for months.
In addition, new challenges arose: results that were registered as 'unknown' had to be retested. This meant that the correct pipettes had to be quickly identified and retrieved within the process. Fesma was called in to efficiently set up this complex process and develop suitable software.
In order to arrive at a workable solution, Fesma started by actively gathering information from all levels of the organization. Employees, management and government agencies were involved to get a complete picture of the requirements and bottlenecks. This close collaboration was crucial to develop software that not only met the technical requirements, but also really connected to daily practice.
Then we worked in short sprints on testing the software together with the end users. By validating directly with the people on the work floor, we were able to quickly adjust and prevent errors before they had an impact.
The situation required constant agility. That is why Fesma remained involved in support and further development after delivery. This allowed changes in regulations or processes to be translated into the software and working method almost immediately.
This targeted collaboration enabled Eurofins to continue to perform under high pressure, while Fesma ensured that the right data and materials were always available at the right time.
